South Florida Engagement Session | With Charlie + Cathryn
If you're looking for an engagement session location that feels coastal without the crowds, Key Biscayne is one of my favorites. Just a short drive from Miami, it’s quiet, breezy, and full of clean natural backdrops—everything from palms and sea oats to sailboats and ocean views.
I met up with Charlie and Cathryn at the lighthouse in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, and we spent the evening walking along the trails, watching boats drift by, and catching the last bit of sun as it set behind the palms. It was relaxed, unposed, and a great reminder of why I love shooting couples in places like this.
Why I Recommend Key Biscayne for Engagement Photos
Whether you’re based in Miami or traveling from somewhere else in Florida, Key Biscayne offers a mix of scenery that feels unique without being overdone. The lighthouse is iconic but not overwhelming in photos, and the nearby water gives a clean, open feel to every shot. It’s ideal if you want something that feels natural, coastal, and timeless.
Planning Your South Florida Engagement Session
I’m based in Jupiter, but I travel all over Florida for engagement sessions and weddings. If you’re newly engaged and thinking about booking photos, here are a few tips to get the most out of your session:
- Timing matters – The light right before sunset here is unbeatable.
- Dress comfortably – It gets warm and breezy near the water.
- Don’t overthink it – The best photos usually come from simple movement, not stiff posing.
Charlie and Cathryn were the perfect example of that. We kept things easy, moved around a lot, and just let the location speak for itself.

This section is used to pull in the photos attached to this Portfolio Item and dynamically add them to the Carousel.
In order to do that, we first use the Collection List to render all of the images and then use a custom script to place those images inside of the Slider.
This only works if:
- The Collection List is rendered with the correct class
- The Slider contains 25 slides (max allowed by Webflow)
- The Custom Script (stored on the Page Settings) is on the page to run when the page loads
The view of this content on Webflow is not how the content will show up on the published site. The things that need to hide themselves will do so appropriately.
